In an interview with Android Police, Kan Liu Director of Product Management for Google’s Chrome OS revealed that they are working to bring Steam to Chromebooks. For this, they might be working directly with Valve since they are going to have the most benefits from this.

For the moment Chromebooks can only play games from Play Store and Stadia. But when Steam comes to Chromebooks other problems might be on the way. Chromebooks are not the most powerful devices for gaming, even though some Chromebooks have very capable CPUs for gaming GPUs are the most important part. Liu said that more powerful Chromebooks are in the works with some of them even supporting AMD hardware.

We don’t have a confirmed date for the release, also there’s a possibility that this project might never see the light. Now we have to wait and see and hope for the best.
