Political ads suspended from Spotify in 2020

Spotify has decided to suspend the sale of political advertising on its platform. This is only for the USA since Spotify doesn’t run political ads on other countries.

In a statement to AdAge they said: “At this point in time, we do not yet have the necessary level of robustness in our process, systems, and tools to responsibly validate and review this content,”

This might not be a huge loss to Spotify since in general political ads don’t make a lot of money.

With this move, Spotify joins other tech giants like Twitter and Google who have decided in one way or another to suspend or prevent political ads running from their platforms.
