At the annual Tech Summit in Maui, Hawaii Qualcomm announced two new 5G mobile chipsets. Their newest flagship is named Snapdragon 865, following the trend of the last few years with SD855, SD845 and SD835. Also for more affordable phones they announced Snapdragon 765 and 765G, these will follow the last years SD730 and SD730G. All the new chips have next-gen AI and 5G networking capabilities.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 865
As always this chipset will be featured on almost every flagship phone that will come from Google, LG, Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi etc. Qualcomm is promising that this will be their best in class chip, with better CPU and GPU performance than last year. Together with some new gaming capabilities that will fall under what Qualcomm is calling Snapdragon Elite Gaming features.
Also the SD865 supports cameras with resolution beyond 100MP and with 2 gigapixels worth of image processing capabilities. So in 2020 we might see more phones join the Mi Note 10 on the 100MP+ market.
